The Asian Civilisations Museum is one of four museums in Singapore. With Singapore’s diverse population, this museum is essential to understanding the country’s heritage. It is a pioneering museum which showcases the mixture of races and cultures that have settled around the region over the past two centuries. The Asian Civilisations Museum is the only museum devoted to exploring this ancestry. It was founded in 1993 and is situated at Empress Place by the Singapore River. Since then the museum has expanded, being popular amongst tourists and locals. There is also a cafe, restaurant and gift shop on site.
