Asomdwe Park is a memorial to Ghana’s President, Professor Atta Mills (1944-2012). He became President in 2009 and died in office in 2012.  He studied law at the London School of Economics and became a teacher in law at the University of Ghana.  He was Vice President of Ghana from 1997 to 2001.  As President he was active in exploring oil production in Ghana with success and he is credited for growth in the country’s economy.  On his death, he was accorded a state funeral.

The park offers a peaceful area to remember this much respected President.   It is a serene environment and home to many exotic animals, such as ostriches and lots of species of fish.
