The Basotho Hat is a building in the shape of a Mokorotlo (a straw hat which is part of Sotho clothing). It offers a wide range of handicrafts produced in Lesotho for visitors to buy. A Mokorotlo is the national symbol of Lesotho. An image of the Mokorotlo even appears on the Lesotho flag and licence plates. The design is believed to have been inspired by the conical mountain Mount Qiloane. This is a popular tourist destination for people to get a taste of local Lesotho.
