Calshot Harbour was named after the Hampshire village in the UK where the Tristanians were housed after the 1961 eruption. It was opened in 1967. Ocean-going liners and yachts can not enter the harbour and must anchor someway off the coast. But when the weather permits, local vessels bring passengers and supplies to the harbour.
