Cartmell Cottage is a museum, run by the Museum & National Trust. It is a restored residence on Drury Street, originally built for a Chelsea Pensioner and his family. It was later extended and then restored in period style to show how rooms were in the 1850s and later. It is open by appointment. It displays kitchens as they were in the 1850s and 1940s as well as in the 1970s. There are bedrooms furnished and decorated as they would have been in the 1940s. One room is for children with toys and a collection of hand made dolls house furniture. It gives a picture of life as it was lived in the recent past.
