Constitution Square was originally called City Square, the name being changed to Constitution Square in 1995 after the amendment of the Ugandan constitution which had been drafted in April 1966. Constitution Square covers around two acres of beautiful green space in the heart of Kampala. Within it stands a memorial, consecrated in 1939, which has the inscription ‘In Memory of our Glorious Dead’. Surrounded by trees, the square is a vantage point for many birds. Visitors can sit back at a distance, or take a leisurely stroll around the memorial, watching the birds.
