The Foundation and Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens were established in 1816 and is the oldest scientific institution in Australia. It is based at 6 Mrs Macquaries Road. The Foundation was established to encourage the enjoyment of the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Blue Domain and other gardens and to involve the community in all aspects of the gardens – scientific, educational, horticultural and recreational.
The Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens raise funds for Sydney’s Botanical Gardens and protect the plants and flora.
