The Parliament Building (Government of Tuvalu)

Tuvalu / The Pacific

The Parliament Building is the largest building anywhere on the atoll, covering a site of some 1,800 square metres.  It was a gift from the People’s Republic of China to Tuvalu.

Local government is composed of a Town Council. This was first established in 1965 and represents seven other islands.  Each council provides local services and consists of six elected members, one of whom acts as president.  Tuvalu is politically stable and politics are relatively low-key.  There are no real political parties.
