Honiara Central Market

Solomon Islands / The Pacific

Honiara Central Market, on Mendana Avenue, is a fish, flower, clothing, fruit and vegetable market, which also sells local crafts such as palm-frond broomsticks, jewellery, hair tonics and coconut oil.  It also provides traditional villa building supplies that support the greater capital’s ever-growing demands.  It is large, clean, open and busy and hums with activity from opening to closing.  The market has its own water frontage for boats to pull in, enabling fishermen to bring their fish in freshly.
