Indian Ocean Rowing Boat Race

New Zealand / The Pacific

The rowing for Prostrate Team rowed this boat in the first-ever Indian Ocean Rowing Race from Western Australia to Mauritius, a distance of 5472 km.  The 81-day voyage overcame broken gear, the loss of their forward cabin, a capsize, the loss of their communications and a near-miss with an ocean tanker four days out from the finish line.  They became the first Southern hemisphere team ever to cross the Indian Ocean. This is based in Orams Marine Village.
