The Kinamba Community Project was set up by its founding trustee, Meg Fletcher, a retired primary school teacher. It was designed to provide educational opportunities for the people of the Kamutwa communities, in the Kinamba area of the city. In particular, it offers hope to war widows, orphans of the Genocide and marginalised people. There is nursery education and support for students as they go through primary and secondary education. By January 2018 there were 80 nursery students, 135 being supported in primary and 53 at the secondary level. A child can be sponsored for £25 to £35 a month.
A house was purchased in 2008 with some additional smaller buildings and these have been converted into teaching spaces.
