The Matapa Chasm was a favourite swimming place for the Kings of Niue and is where freshwater reaches seawater. It is an easy walk of about 15 minutes from the road and there are tracks leading to it. It is a great spot for swimming at no matter what time or weather. There are also shower facilities in the car park nearby. The first view of the chasm is considered to be breathtaking.
