Honiara’s National Museum in the Solomon Islands is a wooden building located just off the main highway. It is a quirky collection of buildings which contain informative displays of the island’s history. Each building has a different exhibit. One portrays chronicles of recent inter-islands troubles and how they were resolved. Another highlights the period after Independence. The museum is fairly large with totems, statues and a separate gift shop where locals sell handicraft goods. This site is worth a visit in order to understand the island’s heritage and culture.
