The National Museum and Art Gallery is a multi-disciplinary institution which includes the Octagon Gallery, as well as, since November 2007, the National Botanical Garden. It displays traditional Botswana crafts and paintings and celebrates the work of local artists. The museum is also involved with the preservation of Tsodilo, the country’s first world heritage area. The museum was established in 1967 by an Act of Parliament and was officially opened to the public in 1968.
