National Park Head Quarters

Canada / Americas

National Park Administration Building was built in a domestic Tudor-Revival style using rubble limestone with cedar-shingled pitched roofs. This style was perceived as harmonious with a mountain setting evoking permanence, tradition and authority and deemed appropriate for the building’s role. Although not the original headquarters, it has become synonymous with the development of Canada’s first national park and with early Canadian tourism.Today there are 43 national parks, 167 historic sites, 4 marine parks and 1 national urban park in Canada and the largest system of protected places in the world.
