Olveston House

Montserrat / Americas

The Olveston house as we know it today was built in 1950 by the then manager of Montserrat Company. Olveston House has a very interesting history. The original wooden house was built in the 1800s. It had all the characteristics of a typical ancient estate house with numerous large rooms and a spacious yard. Olveston house had a number of important Firsts: 1. Montserrat first cinema operated in the basement. 2. It housed Montserrat’s first radio station, ZJB. 3. The first house in Montserrat to have electricity. Currently it’s the holiday home of former Beatles Manager, Sir George Martin and his wife. When the Martins are not occupying the house, it is operated by Margaret Wilson and Carol Osborne as a guest house and restaurant.
