Nauru Parliament House is located in Yaren and is the most modern building on Nauru. It is opposite Nauru’s International Airport and visible on arrival. Inside a small collection of art and historical items can be found on display, such as the Parliamentary Mace and a version of the Code of Procedures for the Government of Nauru. Nauru’s Parliament is small which is apt for this island. There are only 19 representatives and voting is under the Dowdall System. In addition, the neighbouring government buildings are also decorative and have interesting gardens and monuments. A foreign flag hangs outside. This flag is changed every week depending on which off-shore based foreign ambassador is visiting the island.
