The Place d’Armes is undoubtedly the most iconic place on the island. A jewel of the Mauritian heritage, it stretches from the Government Hotel all the way up to the Port Louis Waterfront. The road, lined with royal palms, leads to the beautiful French Colonial Government House. Also famous by the name Sookdeo Bissoondoyal Square, Place d’Armes is the place where there are notable statues of members who have contributed to Mauritius’s history, for example, the statue of Queen Victoria.
