President’s Maneaba. Kiribati

Kiribati / The Pacific

The Maneaba is the House of Assembly of the Government of Kiribati.  A maneaba is traditionally the biggest building in the community, a meeting house, and the centre of village life.  Invariably it is an imposing structure, with slabs of coral supporting a large roof made from coconut wood.  It is known as the Maneaba ni Maungatabu, or maneaba of the Sacred Mountain.
