The Royal Ceremonial Hall, also known as the Lapau, is located across the Royal Regalia Museum and the Brunei History Centre. Adjoining the Lapau is the old Parliament House. This building is where Brunei’s royal ceremonies are usually held. Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (the Sultan of Brunei) was crowned here in 1968. He was crowned under the Lapau’s iconic golden dome. Today you need permission in order to enter the hall.
