St. Mary’s Anglican Church, in the Valley, is the main parish church in Anguilla. In 1986 the Synod met in Anguilla and approved the church’s appointment as a Pro-Cathedral, that is to say, a church so named by a Diocesan Bishop. In 2017 the Diocese celebrated its 175th anniversary. In 2016 the church was greatly enriched by the installation of new stained glass doors and windows, still encased in the original wooden shutters. These display national and religious symbols in their archways.
