Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal

Australia / The Pacific

The Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay is officially known as the Sydney Cove Passenger Terminal.  It serves cruise ships and ocean liners.  Commercial shipping existed in Sydney from 1792.  This waterfront promenade dates from 1958.  The new terminal was built between 1958 and 1960.  Considered something of an eyesore, the renovated building in 1988 has been greatly praised.  It is now wholly a passenger embarkation facility.
