Telok Ayer Market

Singapore / Asia

Telok Ayer Market, also known as Lau Pa Sat, is a historic building tucked away in Downtown Core in the central area of Singapore. It was built in 1824 on the waterfront to serve as a fish market for the people of early colonial Singapore and then relocated here in 1894. Today it is a street food market, established here in 1973. There are a myriad of modern hawker stalls selling all types of meals. This site is ideal to wonder around at leisure and eat a delicacy traditional to Singapore.    A distinctive clock tower was installed in 1991.
