The Thapong Visual Arts Centre was established in 1998 to promote unity and excellence within the visual arts in Botswana in all communities, through sharing skills, enabling personal growth and development and promoting arts locally and internationally through networking. Alongside its gallery and exhibitions programme, the centre maintains studios and hosts workshops. Since 2002 it offers residencies for international artists to work in Botswana for a couple of months, including small outreach workshops and an exhibition at the end of the residency period alongside the local artists.
