The Arts and Cultural Gateway

Australia / The Pacific

The Arts and Cultural Gateway is the entrance to the Evandale Site, part of the new Cultural Precinct, Chevron Island’s Western Bridge. The 16.9 hectare riverside site contains the Council Chambers and the Arts Centre Gold Coast and is the heart of the city’s civic, cultural and artistic life. It includes Bundall, one of the city’s major business districts. The area is being transformed into a striking new cultural precinct, which will include new visual and performing arts facilities and a programmed outdoor artscape supporting the city’s thriving cultural evolution. A planned green bridge and Cultural Corridor will link Evandale to Chevron Island’s commercial hub and Surfers Paradise in the future. To the west of Evandale is the Gold Coast Turf Club, one of the country’s busiest racecourses, hosting about 60 race meetings annually. This includes Australia’s richest equine event, the Magic Millions Carnival. It is also the new home to the Gold Coast Show, an annual celebration now more than a century old.
