COMO The Treasury

Australia / The Pacific

COMO The Treasury is a luxury hotel in the State Buildings, located at 1 Cathedral Avenue, in Perth’s newly revitalised historic district.  The Treasury Buildings or Old Treasury Buildings were built as redbrick government buildings in the 1890s.  In the 1920s the Premier had offices here, and in 1929 at a time of unemployment, demonstrations took place here, 300 unemployed men assembling here, asking for work, not charity.

The building was called the State Buildings in about 2006 and has since been turned in to a contemporary luxury hotel, designed by Kerry Hill, with 48 bedrooms, two restaurants, a bar and Shambhala wellness therapy facilities.
