London Commonwealth Walkway

England / Europe

The London Commonwealth Walkway was added to the original Jubilee Walkway to mark the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, held in London between 16 & 20 April 2018. It extends from Marlborough House, the home of The Commonwealth Secretariat, along Pall Mall, through Trafalgar Square, and along the Strand, marking most of the High Commissions of countries that formed the original Commonwealth, notably New Zealand, Canada, Australia, South Africa and India.  The route is marked with Commonwealth Walkway markers as opposed to Jubilee Walkway markers and also links nearby Commonwealth county High Commissions including Cyprus, Papua New Guinea, Uganda and Nigeria as well as the Government offices of the Gibraltar and Falkland Island British Protectorates.  There is a panel celebrating the principles and values of the Commonwealth outside the Commonwealth Secretariat at Marlborough House. The Queen unveiled this colourful panel in the garden of Buckingham Palace in the afternoon of 18 April 2018 and it was then moved to its new location.
