National Museum

Cameroon / Africa

The Musée National du Cameroun has taken over the former palace of the first President of the Ahmadou Ahidjo Republic. In 2015, after 6 years of renovation work, the building was restored to its former glory. With 5,000 square metres and 30 rooms, visitors can discover all the historical and political aspects of the country from costumes and traditional outfits from around the country to the iconic saxophone of musician Manu Dibango. The reopening of the Musée National du Cameroun of African Art is accompanied by new features. Beautiful sculptures of a queen of yesteryear and her subjects adorn the entrance of the building. The African Art exhibition was enriched with national works previously presented abroad, paintings of contemporary art, as well as objects from ancient Egypt.
